The Horseshoe SanMai Hunter is a handcrafted hunting and outdoor knife combining reclaimed steel, traditional forging techniques, and a distinctive selection of natural handle materials.
The Blade
The blade features a hand-forged san-mai construction made from reclaimed horseshoe steel and spring steel. The combination creates a visible transition between the dark forged surface and the bright, carefully hand-finished cutting bevel.
The blade retains part of its original forged texture, creating a strong visual contrast with the polished steel. Its pronounced point features an unsharpened false edge along the upper section, producing a fine tip suitable for precise cutting and detailed work.
A small section of jimping along the spine provides additional thumb traction and control during use.
The Handle
The full-tang handle combines beautifully figured Amboyna burl with a black horn inlay.
The horn features a hand-applied stippled texture, created using a small rotary tool, providing additional grip and a distinctive tactile surface.
The warm reddish tones and natural grain of the Amboyna burl create a striking contrast with the black horn and dark forged steel.
The handle is carefully shaped to provide a comfortable and secure grip during hunting, bushcraft, and general outdoor tasks.
The Sheath
A handmade leather sheath is included in the price.
The sheath has not yet been made but will be completed shortly, following the same traditional design and craftsmanship as my other leather sheaths.
