This compact field knife started with an old Solingen stainless steel blade that was no longer usable in its original form. I reshaped it completely, gave it a new full flat grind and turned it into a small, slightly upswept utility knife with a fine point and a thin cutting geometry.
The handle is made from the same old oak I recovered from a ruined building here in Umbria. I gave it a deliberately dotted texture that works both as decoration and as additional grip, finished with a small brass guard. The result feels quite traditional without trying to reproduce any particular historical knife.
The blade is relatively thin at 3 mm and has a soft satin finish. I do not know the exact Solingen steel used for the original blade, so I prefer to leave the alloy unspecified rather than guess. It is stainless, relatively tough and I estimate the hardness at around 58–59 HRC.
The knife comes with a simple hand-stitched leather pouch sheath, decorated with understated tooling that matches the character of the handle.
