The Amboyna SanMai Puukko is a handcrafted outdoor knife inspired by the traditional Finnish Puukko, a knife commonly used for woodcarving, hunting, and everyday tasks.
The blade is hand-forged in a san-mai construction, combining a hard cutting core with softer outer steel layers. This construction provides a durable cutting edge while the outer layers support the blade.
The blade features a distal taper from 4 mm to 3 mm, improving balance and control toward the tip. Its compact shape makes it suitable for woodcarving, light bushcraft, food preparation, and general outdoor work.
The handle is made from Amboyna burl, a hardwood from Southeast Asia known for its density and distinctive grain patterns. Its rounded shape provides a comfortable grip and allows different hand positions during extended use.
The knife comes with a handmade leather sheath, hand-stitched and decorated with traditional leather tooling.
